EXPERIENCE HISTORIC LION'S HEAD, CIRCA 1910.
Lion's Head has a rich and interesting history. Built in 1910 by local architect, J.A. Phillips for Hugh Wilson, Superintendent of the Toronto Electric Corporation. The historical fact that Lion's Head was the first poured foundation home in the Niagara Region, allows it today to remain one of the few homes that is completely orginal and restoration has not been required. A fabulous location on Niagara's most scenic drive offering unparalleled views of the spectacular Niagara River Gorge and a leisurely 10 minute stroll to the Falls, Casino and other major attractions. Enjoy the culinary skills of the innkeeper whose experience in the kitchens of Toronto and Britain, make the breakfasts at Lion's Head renowned. The interior of Lion's Head offers an eclectic mix which is reflected in the guest rooms which are named after artists. The use of colour and decorative accents give off a dramatic flair. Directions
From Eastern States Take 90 to 290 to 190 (follow signs to Buffalo and Niagara Falls US). After crossing second bridge on Grand Island take Robert Moses Parkway (sharp right hand ramp exit just before bottom of bridge) which goes along the river. Take the City exit keep going straight to Niagara Street. Turn left on Niagara Street, which takes you to Toll Bridge and across Rainbow Bridge and through Canadian Customs. After crossing Rainbow Bridge take The Fall Exit to Hiram Street, turn right, and then left on River Road for 3 blocks. Lion's Head at top of hill at 5239 River Road. From Buffalo Airport Take 33 to 90 then follow directions above.
From Western States Take 90 to 190 then follow directions above. Via Downtown Toronto Take Gardiner Expressway West to QEW towards Niagara Falls. After crossing the St. Catharines Garden City Skyway Bridge take 405 (left lane of Highway) to Stanley Avenue. Turn right on Stanley and turn left on Whirlpool Road (immediately before railroad tracks) which takes you to River Road (also known as Niagara Parkway). Turn right on River Road and continue for about 9 km. Lion's Head located at 5239 River Road. Via North of Toronto Take 401 West to QEW towards Niagara Falls. (Follow above directions Via Downtown Toronto) Via Detroit Take 401 East to 403 to Hamilton. Take QEW towards Niagara Falls. Follow above directions.
